Dear Readers,
Many substitutes will be going back to work soon. While there are pro's and con's to every situation, when regular teachers are not hired immediately, it does leave jobs open for substitute teachers. These types of situations are good reasons why substitute teachers need to be as prepared as possible to be in the classroom. Know your content, pedagogy, and technology and be prepared to answer questions that prove you know them. Read books about substitute teaching, and consider making a portfolio to bring to interviews.
Happy job hunting!

Dear Readers,
Summer is nearly over! Some districts are having substitute teacher training for new substitutes. If this is not manditory, but you have an opportunity to take adavantage of this, try to attend! It will most likely be helpful, and may help with networking. Always try to take advantage of any professional development that you can.
Happy studying!

Dear Readers,
Happy Summer! Hopefully everyone's having a great start to the summer. We have some great book reviews to be posted this summer. Summer is a great time to work on your reading list. The books can be found under the Reviews tab on the main menu. A few of these books are an exellent refresher for guidelines that all substitute teachers.
I'd also like to remind everyone of the new Tech Tips section, under the Monthlies tab.
Have a great summer,

Dear Readers,
Welcome to June! For those in schools that end in June, good luck! June can be a wild month, especially when the weather is nice. If you're allowed to, and if you can keep your class in control, nice days would be a good time to get some sun and do some learning outside. Perhaps the class has wipe boards and dry erase markers that everyone can just pick up and take outside.
Once school does let out, or if jobs have slowed down already, feel free to join in some discussions. We'll be posting some of our "Question of the Month" questions on the Facebook page, so if you have a Facebook account, feel free to head over and post your opinion. Of course our Forum is always open for members as well.
Happy subbing,
